Artist's Description

This is a 2-sided design. The design of side one is of Oklahoma's heritage; what it was and what made our state. The design will show a cowboy, a Native American, oil derrick, teepee, travelers, and Oklahoma wild life. These icons will be enhanced by colorful background of red earth, golden fields, and blue lakes and streams. The design of side two will be the Oklahoma State Flag with its colorful images on a vibrant blue background. Plus an American flag draped on the nose of the buffalo.

The stand that the buffalo is mounted on will be painted with a representation of the state of Oklahoma. A buffalo will be painted in the center of the state standing. This will be a strong work of art depicting both Oklahoma and the buffalo.

Spirit of the Buffalo originated as a public art project combining art, commerce and civic pride in Oklahoma featuring Oklahoma artists. Initial proceeds benefited the Nature Conservancy's work in Oklahoma. The website project continues through private funds.
