Artist's Description

The concept for this buffalo is a reproduction of one of my large encaustic paintings called "Joy". This piece is owned by the Bruno family here in Oklahoma City and it received an Honorable Mention in the Oklahoma Visual Arts Coalition's Painting and Drawing Biennial last year. My brother and I have decided to call our Buffalo "Prairie Spirit". I wanted it to be a symbol of the buffalo spirit and its constant subtle presence here on the prairie.

Spirit of the Buffalo originated as a public art project combining art, commerce and civic pride in Oklahoma featuring Oklahoma artists. Initial proceeds benefited the Nature Conservancy's work in Oklahoma. The website project continues through private funds.
