Artist's Description

One of my recent oil paintings was a five-foot long canvas of nothing but sky and prairie. While painting it I vowed to do another larger one. I can see my vision on one of the buffalo. The upper part of the buffalo would be a color merge of vivid cobalt to pale aqua with serene white floating clouds. From there would be a subtle horizon line of violet descending into the light to dark of the prairie grass with subtle additions of gold leaf blades and hooves.

Spirit of the Buffalo originated as a public art project combining art, commerce and civic pride in Oklahoma featuring Oklahoma artists. Initial proceeds benefited the Nature Conservancy's work in Oklahoma. The website project continues through private funds.
